[ARCHIVED] Vandalism in Apple Valley neighborhood

Several residents in a neighborhood in the northwestern part of Apple Valley reported their mailboxes damaged Saturday night, May 19.

Officers responded to several reports of vandalism/damage to mailboxes over night and early Sunday morning, May 18-19. Several neighbors reported to officers after the fact that they had seen a group of teenagers in the area of the park near the neighborhood the night of the vandalism but didn't call the police to report any suspicious activity. Please remember that unsupervised youth hanging out later at night usually leads to problems. Dakota County Curfew requires kids under 15 to be in by 10 p.m. during weekdays and by 11 p.m. on weekends. Kids from 15-17 need to be in by 11 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends. A reminder that city parks close at 10 p.m. every night. As the weather warms the Police see a spike in reported incidents of thefts and vandalism. Please do your part to help stop this criminal activity and call 911 to report all suspicious activity, curfew violations or people in parks after hours.
