There are lots of tree diseases and pests out there. Some of the most harmful ones are small insects or are spread by small insects that bore under the bark of a tree. These problem insects generally don't fly very far from the trees they grow up in - maybe a half mile per year. But you can unwittingly act like a tree pest super highway when you move firewood from one area to another: from your home to your cabin, or your cabin to your home. So remember, don't transport firewood. Burn it where you buy it.
