In appreciation for the support and kindness given to the FDNY immediately after the events of 9/11, the New York Fire Dept sent an actual piece of steel recovered from Ground Zero as a token of remembrance to the members of the Apple Valley Fire Dept.
Encased in a beautiful display frame, the small piece of steel serves as a constant reminder of the strength of the 343 firefighters who died that day so that thousands of others would live.
The piece of the World Trade Center and the letter of appreciate that accompanied it will be on display in the lobby of the Apple Valley Municipal Center through the month of September. It will be available for viewing during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
