Leaves contain high amounts of phosphorus that can cause algal blooms in lakes and clog neighborhood stormdrains. Please help keep leaves out of streets and curbs.
You can do a lot for neighborhood water quality by keeping streets clean. Leaves left in the street can be washed into the nearest stormdrain during the next rain. This can lead to either localized flooding because the stormdrain is clogged, or algal blooms in area lakes from the high amount of phosphorus in leaves. Do your part and clean leaves from streets and curbs.
