What do helicopters, chasers, and ladyfingers have in common? They are all names of ILLEGAL fireworks in Minnesota. Just like all the different types of rockets (sky, bottle, missile, and more), the crackers, the candles, the shells and more. Even the pretty paper lanterns that slowly float into the air with nothing more than a soft glow behind thin paper are examples of ILLEGAL fireworks. Don’t worry about remembering all the names of the ILLEGAL fireworks – all you have to know is If it leaves the ground or explodes, it is ILLEGAL in Minnesota.
LEGAL novelty items frequently sold at this time of year include those that spray, spin, and sparkle with no piece becoming airborne or exploding from the main unit. Snakes that melt, devices that smoke, poppers, and even sparklers are LEGAL to use as well, but don’t forget – sparklers burn at over 1800 degrees Fahrenheit! The matches used to light them burn at 325 degrees Fahrenheit! Why risk burns or other injuries to your family and friends?
