What is Mid-Winter Fest?

Apple Valley's Mid-Winter Fest is a winter celebration that brings together our community to enjoy food, fun and activities for all ages. This annual festival began in 1978 and has been an Apple Valley tradition ever since.We invite you to join us for this special community celebration.

Event Information

This year's 2022 celebration is a one-day event that will take place in a new location: Johnny Cake Ridge Park-West, located at 14255 Johnny Cake Ridge Road. We are also excited to offer a variety of new activities for everyone to enjoy. This event is weather-dependent. Remember to dress warm!

Parking

Parking will be available in the Apple Valley Family Aquatic Center Parking Lot, Upper Parking Lot along Johnny Cake Ridge Park-West, and Parking Lots in Johnny Cake Ridge Park-East.

A Mite level hockey tournament run by and scheduled for Eastview Hockey Association and Firehawks Hockey.

An opportunity to try snowshoeing. Dakota County Parks staff will be on-site to provide snowshoes and snowshoeing tips.

3-Hole Disc Golf
A 3-hole disc golf course will be laid out in the park.  Bring your own discs or use ours.

Meet the Apple Valley Police and Fire Departments
The Apple Valley Police Department and Apple Valley Fire Department will be on-site with emergency vehicles and will be able to answer your public safety questions.

Snowman-Building Contest
Get your friends and family outside to build a snowman. Snowmen will be judged and the winning creation will be awarded a gift certificate to a local business. This activity is weather-dependent.

Garden Cart Train Rides
Young children are invited to take a ride on a unique train created just for Mid-Winter Fest. The cart train will be pulled by the Apple Valley Police Department’s UTV.

Pre-Fest Scavenger Hunt Participate now!

Get a headstart on the Mid-Winter Fest fun by participating in this scavenger hunt leading up to the event. Explore locations throughout Apple Valley to complete the Scavenger Hunt Task List

The winner of the Pre-Fest Scavenger Hunt will be announced at the beginning of Mid-Winter Fest and presented with a prize pack consisting of gift certificates from local businesses. Pre-registration is not required. Sponsored by the Apple Valley Police & Fire Departments.

Medallion Hunt Feb. 5 starting at 9 a.m.

A medallion will be hidden in one of Apple Valley’s 51 parks. Clues will be posted on the Apple Valley Parks & Recreation Facebook page beginning at 9 a.m. and will continue every hour until the medallion is found. The person who finds the medallion will be awarded a $250 prize.

Pre-registration for the Medallion Hunt is required by 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, to be eligible for the $250 prize. Once the medallion is confirmed to be found by a registered participant, an announcement will be posted on the Apple Valley Parks & Recreation Facebook page. The winner will be announced on stage, prior to the Riverside Hitmen concert. Register for the Medallion Hunt here.
