Safe Streets First The Apple Valley Police Department is an active participant in the Safe Streets First program. The program assists the First Judicial District in holding repeat drunk driving offenders accountable for their actions. Offenders who live in Apple Valley are required to report to the Police Department on a regular basis for a breath test. Participants who fail a breath test or fail to appear for the test are subject to arrest. The objective of the program is to assist repeat offenders in maintaining abstinence from alcohol so they can remain productive members of the community. The First Judicial District has noted a decreased number of repeat DUI offenders and credits the Safe Streets First program as a major factor in achieving this goal.
