AVPD Animal Control The City does not handle pest problems involving small wild animals such as woodchucks, raccoons, rabbits, or squirrels. The Police Department does, however, have live traps available for rent to trap the animal yourself. The cost is $5.00 a week for the trap rental. For more information, call (952) 953-2700. Coyotes also exist within the City. For more information on coyotes >>> Dogs must be licensed and are prohibited from running at large. Dogs, over four months of age, must be licensed. Licenses are valid for a two-year period and are available at the Police Department. Kennel or cattery permits are required for more than three dogs or three cats. With a kennel or cattery permit, the maximum number of dogs or cats is six (6). Dogs and cats must have rabies vaccinations and they must wear the vaccination tags. Animals which habitually bark or cry are prohibited. Pets should remain in their own yards if not on a leash. As responsible pet owners, residents should clean up after their pets.
