Streets: Snow and Ice Removal The City currently sends its entire snow plowing fleet out to plow its more than 163 miles of streets every time it snows 2" or more during the winter. Sensible salting and sanding for deicing is done in the same manner for snow falls of lessor amounts, and in conjunction with plow operations. Sidewalk Snow Removal: Snow and ice must be removed from public sidewalks within 48 hours. Parking: On-street parking is prohibited any time snowplowing or snow removal operations are in progress. Snow Placement: It is dangerous and illegal for residents to place snow back on the street. Snow removed from driveways and sidewalks should be placed on the owner's property or within the right of way in front of the property.
As snow from plowing accumulates along streets and in cul-de-sacs, the Public Works Department asks your cooperation in keeping children away from these snow piles. These piles are very inviting for curious youngsters to explore and tunnel in, but can be very dangerous when the snowplow or loader are pushing snow. Snowplow operations can be in effect at any time during the winter as crews attempt to reclaim more of the road, so there really is no safe time to play in these snow piles. Please encourage children to use park facilities or backyards for their snow activities. Thank you.
