Streets Division
Seasonal Load Restrictions went into effect on March 8, 2010. With the implementation of seasonal load restrictions, vehicle weight limits may not exceed 5-ton per axle on City streets unless the type of vehicle is exempted by State Statute or the City Council approves, on a case-by-case basis, an exemption from seasonal load restrictions for good cause. Vehicles exempted from seasonal load restrictions by statute are school
buses and head start buses, milk trucks, recycling and garbage trucks,
and public utility trucks. Although these vehicles are exempted from the
5-ton axle limit, there are some weight restrictions placed upon them
by State Statutes.
