The Apple Valley Mid-Winter Fest is a two-day celebration of winter in Apple Valley. This annual festival began in 1978 with only a few activities and perhaps 100 participants. The festival grew steadily since then, to a high of approximately 5,000 participants in the early 90's. The Mid-Winter Fest committee has continued to continue to offer a wide range of activities. Some of the activities have included Senior Royalty Coronation, Snow Softball & Volleyball Tournaments, Medallion Hunt, Hay Rides, Door Prize Drawings, Snow Tubing, Sled Dog Rides and much, much more.

The goal of having a Mid Winter Fest in Apple Valley is twofold:

1. To foster a sense of community pride and spirit among Apple Valley residents.

2. To make citizens aware of the winter recreational activities available in Apple Valley and give them a mid-winter boost via participation in a special winter oriented program.

The Apple Valley Mid-Winter Fest Committee feels strongly that winters are here to stay in Minnesota. We feel that the citizens of Apple Valley and neighboring communities should take advantage of this situation by participating in the winter activities that are available in our community. Rather than hide from winter, people should go out and have fun in it. We encourage everyone to live by the Mid-Winter Fest credo:

DON'T HIBERNATE...CELEBRATE
