Adult Recreation Leagues

The City of Apple Valley provides seasonal opportunities for ADULT basketball leagues; golf leagues; softball leagues; volleyball leagues; and wiffleball leagues. In most cases, players can register as an entire team, or can sign up on the “Draft List” for players looking to sub or to join an existing team. In addition, some recreational leagues are offered through the South of the River Recreators (SORR). These include kickball and the ground pounders running series.

Adult Seasonal Recreation League Descriptions

Basketball: Adult basketball leagues opportunities include: Fall Men’s 5 on 5 Recreational (Unofficiated), Class A & B Leagues, and an Over 30 League. Winter programs offer both competitive Class A & B (Officiated) and recreational Class B, C, and Over 30 (Unofficiated) leagues. Men's and Women's 3 on 3 leagues are offered both seasons as well. For all leagues, players can register their entire team, or can sign up on a “Draft List”, for players looking to sub or to join an existing team. The games are held at the Apple Valley Community Center, 14603 Hayes Road. League play generally lasts 10 weeks plus play-offs.

Golf: Each of the adult leagues is run by independent organizations or committees, please contact the pro shop for more information on how to reach the league directors.

Kickball: The City of Apple Valley in conjunction with the South of the River Recreators (SORR) provides opportunities for both competitive and recreational co-rec kickball leagues in the summer and fall. Players can register as a team, or can sign up on the “Draft List” for players looking to sub or to join an existing team. Outdoor games are all played at the Johnny Cake Ridge Park fields. League play generally goes for approximately 8 weeks plus play-offs.

Running: The City of Apple Valley in conjunction with the South of the River Recreators (SORR) provides opportunities for a co-rec running race series in the summer. Runners, walkers, kids and everyone else can get in on the fun! A variety of lengths, scenery, prizes and events offer a chance for everyone to get involved. Competitors race for the chance at top placement and collect points towards the Running Series season-ending awards. Anderson Race Management tabulates all race results, which are available immediately following each race.

The Groundpounders Grand Prix is a series of 7 prestigious runs
sponsored by the South of the River Recreators (SORR)
Communities of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington,
Lakeville, Prior Lake, Rosemount and Savage. Runners may
participate in as many races as they choose. Points are awarded
for each race, with awards given to the top finishers at the end of
the season. Open to all ages.

Softball: No matter what your team’s competition level is, we have a league to match it. The Apple Valley softball leagues would like to see your team on the playing field. All games are played at Johnny Cake Ridge Park. Both single game leagues and doubleheader leagues are available.

Volleyball: Competitive and recreational women’s, men’s and co-rec volleyball league opportunities are available in the winter, spring, summer and fall. Players can register as a team, or can sign up on the “Draft List” for players looking to sub or to join an existing team. Indoor matches are all held at the Apple Valley Community Center, with summer outdoor matches played at the Valleywood and Johnny Cake Ridge Park sand volleyball courts. League play generally goes for approximately 9 weeks plus play-offs.

Wiffleball: Co-rec and men’s recreational wiffleball league opportunities are available in the winter/spring. Players can register as a team, or can sign up on the “Draft List” for players looking to sub or to join an existing team. Indoor games are all held at the Apple Valley Community Center. League plays generally goes for 6 weeks plus play-offs.
