You are required to purchase a dog license
in the City of Apple Valley. Costs are $9.00 for a dog that is spayed
or neutered, $16.00 if not. You may purchase the license at the Apple
Valley Police Department 7 days a week. The licenses run in a two calendar
year cycle. Apple Valley has a leash law for dogs only. Cats are not required
to be licensed or leashed. A cat however, must have a current rabies tag.
Dogs are required to display their dog license and rabies tags. Citations
can be issued for non-compliance with these ordinances. Animals which
habitually bark or cry are prohibited. Application
for Dog License The city does not issue general business licenses, but does license certain business activities such as alcoholic beverage sales, coin-operated amusement devices, pawn brokers, precious metal dealers, vending carts, etc. Contact City Hall for information on licensing a specific activity. (952) 953-2500. The State of Minnesota, not the City, is responsible for new business licenses and registrations. The State Secretary of State Office files and records original and amendment documents for all business, nonprofit, foreign, banking, insurance, and professional corporations, cooperatives, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships and limited liability companies formed or doing business in this state. It also records trademark and assumed business names. The City does not provide license services for vehicles or DNR transactions. This service is provided by Dakota County at several locations, as well as a private company located within the City of Apple Valley.
