Building Permits & Inspections The Building Inspection Division is responsible for enforcement of the State Building Code. The City of Apple Valley adopts the State Code by ordinance in Chapter 150 of the Apple Valley Code of Ordinances. Link to Ordinances page >>> There are several documents that comprise the State Building Code. The four major documents are the International Building Code, the International Residential Code, the International Mechanical Code, and the International Fuel Gas Code. The Minnesota State Building Code includes amendments to these documents that address Minnesota's climatic conditions. Also included in the State Codes are the State Plumbing Code, the State Energy Code, and the Minnesota Accessibility Code. The Minnesota State Building Code is revised and re-adopted approximately every three years. The links below have specific information on the topics listed. Along with information about permits and inspections, some home maintenance and safety tips are provided. For information about permits and inspections, please call (952) 953-2588. The residential permit information on this web site does not apply to
manufactured homes (mobile homes). There are two manufactured home parks
in Apple Valley and the rules and ordinances are different in each park.
