Building Permit Fees Building Permit Fees are calculated using the following schedule:
* All valuations are rounded up or down to the nearest $1,000.00 The City of Apple Valley uses the most current Building Valuation Data
provided by the Building Codes and Standards Division to figure the valuation
on commercial projects. Their website is: A Plan Review Fee will be charged in addition to the permit fee when plans must be reviewed before issuing the permit. This fee is equal to 65% of the permit fee. The State of Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry mandates municipalities collect a surcharge on all permits. The Building Codes and Standards Division, and the Plumbing and Engineering Unit are funded from these surcharges. The state surcharge is added to all permit fees as follows: When the permit fee is less than $1,000.00 the surcharge is $0.50 When the permit fee is over $1,000.00 the surcharge is 0.0005 times the
permit fee.
