Utility Billing

The City of Apple Valley provides water and sewer services. Service accounts can be obtained by contacting the City of Apple Valley Utility Billing Division at (952) 953-2522. Residents are billed for service on a monthly basis. If you are planning to be gone for an extended time, you may want to ask that water service to your home be shut off. A $25 fee will be charged to turn the water back on when you return. Having the water turned off while you are gone will lessen the potential for extensive damage should a water line rupture. Also, with the water turned off you may not receive a utility bill during that billing period which may save money.

The City of Apple Valley's Automatic Payment Plan

Now you can pay your utility bill from your checking or savings account automatically-no checks to write, stamps to buy, or late payments. It's free, fast, and easy to do.

Q. How do I sign up?
A. It's easy. Simply complete and return the attached authorization form, and include a voided check (for checking accounts) or deposit slip (for savings accounts).

Q. How soon will the Automatic Payment Plan start?
A. It usually begins the week after we receive your authorization. Please continue to pay your bill as usual until the message "AUTOMATIC PAYMENT-DO NOT PAY" appears on the top of your bill.

Q. How can I be sure my bill has been paid?
A. Your monthly bank statement will clearly reflect the automatic payment, and your next billing will also include a debit for the amount of the billing on it. Payment will be posted on the due date listed on your bill.

Q. What if I have a question about my bill?
A. Simply call the City Utility Billing Department at (952)953-2522.

Q. Is there a charge for this service?
A. No. The City does not charge you for automatic payments, and you enjoy the savings of no postage to mail your bills.

Q. What if I change banks or accounts?
A. Just call us at (952)953-2522 and we will send you a new authorization form to complete. Forms can also be found on our City website at www.cityofapplevalley.org under Departments-Utility Billing.

Utility Service Summary

The City's water and sewer utility includes the following activities:

Water Production. Produce and treat all potable water supplied to the distribution system; including sampling, testing, and chemical control. Maintain the water treatment facility, wells, and related equipment.

Water Distribution. Inspect and maintain the distribution infrastructure and storage facilities. Other responsibilities include metering, accounting for water use, and maintaining water quality within the distribution system.

Sewer. Inspect and maintain the collection system infrastructure and the sanitary lift stations and ensure uninterrupted collection of wastewater. Sanitary sewer disposal needs are served by the Environmental Services Division of the Metropolitan Council.
