General Information
Welcome! The Community Development and Planning Department is responsible for planning & zoning, economic development, housing and redevelopment for the City of Apple Valley. On this web page you will find information about the development and planning process, the Comprehensive Plan, the subdivision and zoning codes, agendas and minutes for the Planning Commission, maps, and much more. The Community Development and Planning department provides many services to the public, other city departments, the Planning Commission, and the City Council. The department is responsible for long-range and current planning. Long-range planning involves creating and updating the Comprehensive Plan that contains the community's goals for the future, tracking demographic changes, preparing population projections and estimates, and conducting statistical analyses. Current planning includes reviewing and coordinating zoning cases, subdivision plats, site plan review, ordinance amendments, conditional use permits, variances, interim use permits, and sign permits. The department provides technical support for the Planning
Commission, a citizen advisory group that makes recommendations to
the City Council. The Planning Commission meets the first and third Wednesdays
of each month at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Center, 7100 West 147th Street,
