The Apple Valley Central Village You may have noticed a great deal of construction activity as you drive east of Apple Valley's existing downtown. There is a new urban style development called the Central Village, which represents the next step in the evolution of the downtown. The 60-acre Central Village is pedestrian-oriented development that is expected to provide the Apple Valley with a variety of high-density housing, retail, office, restaurant, and other uses that will give the area a strong sense of place and the feeling similar to an old-fashioned downtown. The Central Village is located at the intersection of 153rd Street W. and Galaxie Avenue and bounded by Foliage Avenue on the east, Founders Lane on the south, Garrett Avenue on the west and 151st Street W. to the north. The Central Village will have a number of unique characteristics including taller buildings that will be located closer to the street, much like main streets in towns of yesteryear. There will also be parking structures, shared parking, and on-street parking which help also help to create traffic calming. The bump out parking design makes it easier for drivers to get in and out and allows for efficient on-street parking. The Central Village is a walkable area and several parks are integrated into the pedestrian plan. The Village has two large developments with two different primary developers. The portion of the Central Village east of Galaxie Avenue is known as The Legacy of Apple Valley while the portion of the Village west of Galaxie is known as the Village at Founders Circle (formerly known as Harmony Commons). The Village at Founders Circle encompasses approximately 26 acres of the Central Village. The Legacy of Apple Valley development on the east side of Galaxie Avenue includes the 105-unit Legacy Square townhouses, the ReMax Results Office Building, Enjoy! Restaurant, the Legacy Shops, and the Legacy North Office Condos. Thus far in the Central Village, the City has approved the development of 1,371 multi-family dwelling units, that will include a mix of townhouse, condominium, apartment, and senior only dwelling units, and approximately 450,000 square feet of commercial/retail/office space. Please call the Planning Department at (952) 953-2575 if you have any
questions about the Central Village area. Content updated on: 22-Mar-2006
