May 26, 2000 -- Update on Garden View Drive Traffic In recent months, neighbors in the Garden View Drive area have expressed their concerns about traffic volumes and speeds on Garden View Drive. Neighborhood concerns were recently heightened by a decision made by the City of Lakeville to realign Highview Avenue in Lakeville with Garden View Drive at County Road 46. The Apple Valley City Council wanted to provide you with this update on the steps which are being taken to address these traffic concerns. Recent steps undertaken by the City of Apple Valley include:
GARDEN VIEW AD HOC ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON TRAFFIC At its May 11, 2000, meeting, the Apple Valley City Council established an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to examine the options that will help reduce the traffic volumes and speeds on Garden View Drive. The composition of the Ad Hoc Committee as established includes:
Appointed Committee Members: Arthur Zimmerman, Nathan Koering
Appointed Committee Members: Jeff Loch, Mark Nelson
Appointed Committee Members: Richard Berg, Mark Heieren, Gary Shade, Neil Evers
Appointed Committee Members: Lloyd Lawrence, Denise Louis
Appointed Committee Members: Peg Smith
Appointed Committee Members: Valley Middle School Principal Dave McKeag
Appointed Committee Members: John Bergman
Appointed Committee Members: Mayor Mary Hamann-Roland, Council member Ruth Grendahl
The Garden View Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Traffic
is expected to define the problems and concerns with existing and projected
traffic flows, identify and research potential solutions, and recommend
to the City Council specific measures which could be undertaken to improve
traffic conditions in the area. City staff and traffic engineering consultants
will support this group. Written meeting notes are available on this website.
The Garden View Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Traffic will begin meeting
in June and throughout the summer. Subsequent meetings have not yet been
