Government Access Programming

Channel 16 logo

Residents who subscribe to cable television service can watch city council meetings live or as taped cablecasts on the government access channels.

The individual cities and the joint commission produce a variety of programming, including:

Government Access Channels 16 and 22 televise all of the Apple Valley, Farmington, and Rosemount City Council and Planning Commission meetings live. Meeting coverage is also replayed various days and times to provide more opportunities for citizens to be better informed about their local government by being able to watch it at their convenience.

"Hook & Ladder" is produced bimonthly by Apple Valley. It highlights the work of, and share information about, the public safety departments in our community.

"Apple Valley Today" is a magazine format, general interest program. The stories primarily feature the many efforts of the City to maintain and improve the quality of life in Apple Valley, but may also cover relevant regional topics.

Each of the three cities Council Chambers are equipped with television cameras, staff and audiences TV monitors, and a variety of audio visual presentation equipment. All of this equipment is linked to a Control Room where the TV staff transmits the meeting coverage live to the viewers, and they also record it to videotape for replay later.
