Money Magazine Names Apple Valley as one of the Best Places to Live in the Country! Some places have everything any family could want -- economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a sense of community! What we already know has been discovered by Money Magazine. The magazine ranks Apple Valley 24th out of 100 in Money's annual list, "Best Place to Live"! In 2007, the City was named 28th Best Place to Live. Why is Apple Valley the "apple of the state and national eye"? The magazine has recognized our innovative Downtown, the excellent schools, including the School of Environmental Studies, the Minnesota Zoo, and the many miles of walking trails that offer opportunities for nature buffs, young and old alike. The buckthorn collection program for 2008 began on August 18 and will continue on a weekly basis until November 18. Collection is conducted by City crews beginning on Tuesday each week. here to access the Comprehensive Plan Update page. >>> Digital TV Conversion. Over-the-air television broadcasting is transitioning from analog format to digital format. By law, February 17, 2009, is the last day for full-power television stations to broadcast in analog. After that date, they will only broadcast in digital. Analog television sets will require a converter to receive the new digital signal. The Federal Communications Commission has more information for consumers to prepare for this transition. To visit the FCC web site >>> Residential Rental Registration Program. The City of Apple Valley adopted a rental registration ordinance effective November 20, 2007. Pandemic Flu Planning. The City of Apple Valley would like citizens to be informed and prepared for a possible flu pandemic. There presently is no influenza pandemic in the United States but governments at all levels are continuously preparing for disasters, including an influenza pandemic. We encourage families and businesses to prepare as well.
